i recently got a loaded 1911 . i dont liek the checkered grips at all. at gun show today i was looking for some smooth ones but folks were asking crazy prices. well crazy to me. i want a set of wood or wood grain or even smooth platic it doesnt matter .where online has best place to look ?

Any online vendor should have 1911 grips that you will find suitable. You can find bargains on Ebay every now and then. I would wait and see if someone on this forum would want to trade grips with you as most people prefer the checkered grips.

TONS of real nice smooth wood grip choices on ebay. I've bought several sets for less than I could have bought the blanks for. Do a search for "1911 grips". You'll be browsing awhile.

Big State Dist....although a major Glock supplier, does carry some nice 'smooth' grips for 1911's.

Just ordered a set from here gun grips (http://www.gungrips.net/), $35 shipped. They also do cutom images on them and lettering if you want.

scored some cocobolo wood smooth grips for my 1911 for 17 bucks plus shipping on fleabay.:) boxmatched and look good. can you be stoked over grips ?? lol i am.
