View Full Version : extended slide release ?
Why arent they more popular?I've had one on my 5 inch gov. 38 super for a good while.with and extended thumb safty release it a natural .looks and function.seems like a win win sit.I've recently added one to my Kimber UC.man for a carry piece its great.i can control safty and mag ejection w/o changing my grip and thus upsetting my bevertail safty.BTW adds nothing to the bulk or width :laughabove:

I think the main thing with the extended slide release is it cause problems with some people who bump it under recoil causing the slide to lock back pre-maturely.

Mine wouldn't allow pistol to seat in holster properly(sparks) not much but enough I didn't like it. I also see noreason for surfboard size safetys I have small factory size Anbi on Colts and never had a problem useing and they won't get bumped off. This ok on range gun but not carry . Least that how I see it. KISS works

That is great for competition, but I'll keep grabbing the slide by the top with my left hand. Your way is really fast running drills, but I'll trust my gross motor skills when the SHTF.

i dont mind the regualar slide stop as i grap the slide and pull it back to load the first round... and if it is empty i grab it and lower it easy anyway..
so to me its no big deal

I would stick with that method. You will be glad you did if you ever have to do it under pressure.

I know its probably not a big point and one that I know has been pointed out before. But its not a slide release, the proper way to load a round is to slingshot the slide. Thus enableing the full motion of the slide. Using the slide stop as a release could result in a failure to chamber the round properly and as stated will often have issues with holsters.

Another potential problem is when folks labor under the delusion that a replacement slide stop is just a 'drop-in' part. This ain't always the case.
