Recently, I've had the feeling that something was missing from my life...is it that "special someone"? No. I find that 2 to 3 special someones every couple of weeks is about optimum. A home of my own? Naaah. I'll let the realtor cart me around tommorrow and show me a house or two, but it's only a place for the three S's, so not a priority. Great family? Good friends? Got 'em. Travel? I've slept in more airplane seats than beds in the last couple of months....
No, this malaise, this uneasiness, this feeling of, well...emptiness has plagued me since I cleared my safe of the last 1911 a couple of months ago. I tend to favor Austrian plastic for carry, less fuss. But a man just ought to have a 1911.
So I ordered one of these:

Same gun, 25 LPI checkering, flat mainspring housing, but with low-mount Bomars. Rock River had 2 in stock, and it's a 4 to 6 month wait for one with Heinies. I figure if I manage to break the Bomars I can always swap some on.
Problem solved:supergrin:

Nice gun. Everyone needs at least one 1911. Hope you enjoy it and use it wisely and well!

Gracias. I've owned only one really good one, a Colt series 70 9mm/38 super combo. That's one of very few guns I've ever held any lasting regret over selling. I'll need to re-assemble my press so I can afford to shoot it, and locate that old Wilson video to remind myself how to detail-strip the thing. Thankfully the task won't require tweexers with this one.
I'll post some pics of the real deal with Bomars when it comes in.
Funny that for a basic package with "no subs" that they had 2 in stock with non-standard sights not listed in the ad.

Came in today, some assembly required, barely remembered how. It's a Glocker's 1911, no tweezer required for assembly, no series 80 BS. And no way I'm gonna be swapping sights the way those Bomars are mounted.

Gracias, Okie, just figured after all the ribbing I give out about 1911's, I'd admit I'll probably always own one of one type or another. It'll be awhile, but I'm alreay considering a Nighthawk at some point. Fireslayer and I dropped into their shop last year and walked away pretty impressed.
Slayer, if I'm tugging at my britches, I'm carrying it. Otherwise I'm armed with plastic.
