I finally got one! Although this is a commercial Mak in .380 I still like it. I got it for $139 OTD at a local pawn shop. What do you guys think?
Also, I am having trouble installing the pachmeyer grip that I bought for it. It doesn't seem to want to go on all the way. Are these grips not made for the commercial models?
Anyway, here are the pics.

Never heard of a Pachmayr grip for the Makarov.
If you are talking about a slip-on, I know of Hogue and Agrip.
If this is a Pachmayr slip on, try heating it in warm water first.

Your right..my mistake. It is a Pearce grip.

The Pearce grips are soft rubber and can become slightly deformed.
Firstly, I suggest warming the grip in hot water to sfoten it a little. Then carfully slide it on. Look at the forward lips of the grip. You will notice a slight lip with a recess. The outer portion has to slide over the outside of the frame while the inner area fits under the edge of the frame.
With a little careful observation and coaxing, you should get it to fit.
Next, the grip srew. Be careful. The grip is soft and it is easy to screw it in too far. Get a pen lite and look inside the mag well. You should be able to see the end of the threaded hole that the screw threads into. The grip screw should go only to the edge of the mag well, but should not intrude at all, otherwise it will snag the mag.
Best of luck.
Frankly, over the years I have come to appreciate the original grips more and the Pearce grips less.

It looks in good shape and at a good price.
Recently I paid $179 for the same thing.
My Wife had the Pearce grip on Her Mak but I like the original grip better.
I have a set of Pearce on my high cap mak. Not sure about the 8 rounders but I have to "pop" the sides of the grip to get them to fit sometimes. I picked up a 2nd grip screw just to use with the Pearce since the original went to far into the mag well, just filed it down a little so the grip would stay snug (it wasnt).

Yes, the Pearce grips are a little tight when new. I've had a couple of them over the years. While I don't use them for carry because they are a bit wider and their surface causes clothing issues, I DO use them when accuracy is a must. I'll be re-qualifying for my permit in a few weeks, and I intend to use Natasha, my carry EG. She already has the Pearce grip installed.

The 5 ring is bigger now.
I liked the Pearce when I first got it but later I reverted back to the original grip on my Mak. Then I got an East German one and the stock grips on it are vastly superior to any grip I have come across for the Mak. With the EG grip the Mak is a much better fit for the hand and allows the pistol to be concealed much easier. IMHO.

where can I get a set of EG grips for this pistol?

the russian grip is too cool.i refuse to change the grip or even refinish my 1960 east german mak in 9mm mak.
All of the East German grips I have seen have been black in color but here are some on Ebay which do not appear to be black.

You might also try www.makarov.com
Incidentally, they take a grip screw which is a different size than the Russian, Chinese or Bulgarian Mak.
Upon further observation, I don't think those on Ebay are East German. The East German grips are solid black with checkering and no star.

on your mak will not feel as right as the origonal factory plastic grip.Even an old bulgarian mak i had with a thumb ledge for right handed shooters and a lanyard.always felt better and looked better than any wood aftermarket grip i could come across.thay just add to the thickness.
