If you sent off a hard chromed gun for warranty work (wouldn't extract reliably), only to have the entire top end of the gun replaced under warranty, and it coming back to you with just your original frame hard chromed, new top end is blued...
That was my surprise today... just had to vent quickly...

Was it factory plated?
If so, you have a gripe, they ought to have returned it to original.
Was it aftermarket plated?
You were maybe lucky they took it under warranty at all.

+1
Factory warranty returns to factory spec. If you spent $5000 on deluxe engraving and then cracked the slide, they don't owe you a slide plus engraving - just the slide.
If it came to you with HC - get on the horn.
where did you have it chromeplated ? id be pizzed at them for screwing up my slide.sounds like thats what the factory thought.if so your very lucky indeed.

i'm not sure who hard chromed it, i bought it at a shop and it was supposed to be factory option that STI offers. thats why i was pretty jazzed up about it. Oh well, it still looks good and shoots great...
I'd get to the nearest telephone my friend!
