have lot of full size 1911s but got first commander size
its a DW bobtail its a cz model, what are some good springs to us in a commander, is it only the roil spring that is different?
also
all the new 1911s have a trigger with a allen screw in it does that really adjust the trigger, if so is it all the way in or out that is the lightest
A Commander spring is usually 20# but some makers vary a few pounds one way or the other.
The screw in the trigger is an overtravel adjustment. It has absolutely nothing to do with the trigger pull weight. They are set at the factory and you shouldn't mess with it. It prevents the trigger from pushing back on the sear too far. Many guns simply do without them. "Match" guns have the adjustment to take microseconds off the trigger reset time.
why,why on earth would you assume thats a trigger weight adjustment?:soap:

ok how do you tell where the screw should be?? i usually buy guns used
Being a bobtail, it actually uses an officers size spring for a MSH, not a commander spring as the actual functioning part of the MSH has been abbreviated.
If your trigger works, leave the overtravel screw alone. If you are unsure, take it to a competent smith. If the screw goes in too far the trigger will either not work or will not reset properly. If you begin turnig on the overtravel screw it will turn while you are shooting it and if it works it's way in will disable your trigger. If you have already been playing with it, take it to a smith.
