I've been noticing that I've been persistently low (with my G30) in local IDPA-style shooting, so I tried a target at 25 yards -- sure enough averaging 10" below aim point at 25 yards. So I do the calculation and my .218" front (I have Slant-8's) needs to go down 50 thousandths. So I put on a 0.165" and shoot again on a rest -- whoh -- I'm 10" low!! Then I shoot two-handed -- I'm ON. So shooting from a rest was OK in the first place, had I checked.
Any ideas why I consistently shoot 10" lower (at 25 yards) two-handed than with the SAME sight picture on a rest? The obvious suspect would be trigger jerk -- but how do you jerk down without going sideways too (no left-right shift observed)?
Postscipt:
This tendency to shoot low showed up after switching back to the factory 5 lb connector from a Scherer 3.5 I had used happily for a year. I'm guessing the extra pull is causing a down-twitch at the moment of release that using a rest supresses. I changed to the stock connector to get better control weak-hand, but it looks like the answer may be more practice, not more pull. I've switched back to the Scherer 3.5 and will see what happens next week.
