I just bought a S&W 1911PD. What does the brain trust in here suggest
that I use for a lubricant?
Thanks....Rick

Cowboy, after your post, I called Sportsman's Warehouse and
asked them the same question.
The gun dept. told me that S&W has just come out with a M&P
semi auto with a lock. That was the only one that he was
sure about.
So I guess that we're kind of dangling on the issue because
I sure don't know myself. Lord only knows what the future
holds?
Rick...
That is one sweet 1911! Congrats! BTW, I use Ed's Red home brew for cleaning and disinfectant:supergrin: , and Birchwood Casey Gun oil for lub.

Mobil1 synthetic grease, but go very lightly. You could also try a mix of grease and Mobil1 motor oil.
I've used Mobil 1 15-50 synthetic on my Glock, Sig's and
bolt centerfires. I'll try it on the new 1911.

I really like TW25B. I have been using it on all my pistols after reading about it on sigforum.com. It holds up well under long practice sessions, cleans up well, and does not cake onto a weapon. It does not ooze off a pistol onto my clothes like CLP or other products. I hate Break-Free stains on a new white dress shirt.
It's made by Kleen-Bore, and costs about $7.00 for a 3/4 ounce tube.
I also use MMC - Molecular Metal Conditioners. It's especially helpful on the blued steel firearms.

Yes, Mobil-1 is cheaper. Yes, a quart of Mobil-1 lasts an eternity. And yes, Mobil-1 stains my clothes and makes me smell like a refinery. Not so great for concealed carry. Save it for your range-only guns.
