Don :frown: NailShooter 06-03-2006, 13:29 Don, When your new MK9 arrives, let us know how you think it stacks up against the old one in terms of fit, finish, function, reliability, and accuracy. NS Don, Yes, please do, we're all anxious to know! DonD 06-03-2006, 21:44 I certainly will. I stupidly sold it because I had a Glock 30 (still have it) and did not want different types of trigger pulls on CCW guns. BAD decision. The gun was completely reliable from the first day out. It shot very accurately for me. I guess one dumb ---decision out of 14 sales in my shooting lifetime isn't TOO bad. Don warmrain 06-04-2006, 00:44 Originally posted by DonD I certainly will. Don I've only sold three pistols in my life and one was a mistake I am still struggling with forgiving myself for... At least the guy I sold that one to is an acquaintance and he is in love with it... (an Ultimate Stainless NIB Colt Officers...) I've replaced it at 3x the cost, but at least I have an Officers again, like you and the MK9 I guess... I have an old (one of the first) MK9s, an Elite 98 that is a work of art. Why they cannot build pistols like that anymore is a real shame (or is it just the polymers that seem inferior?). In any case, we are all anxious to hear about current stainless Kahrs... DAVE RICHARDS 06-09-2006, 01:52 Damn shame about some of the things going on at Kahr right now. As I've mentioned before I have one of the very early MK40's and it is a real gem. It is built better than most guns and as good as any of the top brands. Built and runs like a Swiss watch. Never any kind of failure in all the years I've owned it. It's my summer gun. I get some Cargo type shorts, slide it in the pocket loaded with Gold Dots, couple exrtra mags and I' good to go. Put 100 rounds through it a couple of days ago not a bit of problem. It's heavy but in the .40 that's good. It's accuracy is suberb. When I'm going to a bad area I take it and my P-3AT as BUG. I don't think their is a snubbie made that is as easy to shoot accurately or packs the same punch. Most of my frineds with older MK40's, MK9's, K9's and K40's have the same experience. Has Kahr let QC go since they've gotten bigger? Damn shame. used to be one of the best small guns made. Dobbler 06-12-2006, 14:38 Kahr told me June 26th availability on a MK9. Dobbler 07-06-2006, 17:31 Don -- did you get your MK9? DonD 07-07-2006, 18:55 Dobbler. I wish I had. 3 months and a week now. Need to call my FFL, I was out of town this past week. Probably will be disappointed. Was told if all went well, it would be in but I guess they didn't produce many. One would think that some overtime on the production line would be in order. I WILL post whenever it arrives and will shoot it promptly. Don Dobbler 07-07-2006, 19:25 On 6/10 I was told 6/26 ship date. On 6/30 I called and Heather said "shipping today". Given the holiday I confirmed when delivery would be: "FedEx will be delivering Monday 7/3". Here it is 7/7 and NOTHING. What a joke these people have become. Heather is on vacation. The dealer folks (Frank) have not returned my call. Someone at Kahr better decide to get their support folks organized. DonD 07-12-2006, 19:31 Called Kahr Monday, got a call back yesterday. Well...they didn't produce any MK9s last month like planned. Said that they are running two shifts on the production line and moving to a new factory facility. Promised to build some MK9s this month but would only tell me "within 30 days" for delivery. Wonderful, 30 days will put it at 18 weeks, really speedy. If and when it arrives, if it is reliable, I'll be pleased despite the horrid wait. Don  Dobbler 07-13-2006, 11:26 Yep -- that's the story I got today as well. Looks like the oldest order in the system is from MARCH. They were planning to build a whopping 10 last month. That's for all MK9 models, Elite and not. DonD 07-13-2006, 19:16 Yeah, they've got me at the top of the list supposedly with an order date of 30 March. Gosh, if I were a company, I'd really be proud of such a timely delivery. Dripping cynicism quite intended. Don Dobbler 07-13-2006, 22:36 Not sure what model MK9 you ordered, but I know where some might be found. I ordered and Elite so Kahr will probably be the fastest way for me to get one (for my wife). jbscotty 07-25-2006, 18:45 Just curious what price you are getting them for? I found an MK9 (I don't think it is an elite model) new for $439.00. Is this a good price? Dobbler 07-25-2006, 19:24 Originally posted by jbscotty Just curious what price you are getting them for? I found an MK9 (I don't think it is an elite model) new for $439.00. Is this a good price? My guess is that is a MK9 BOX -- Black Oxide finish on a carbon steel slide and not an all-stainless model. jbscotty 07-25-2006, 20:46 No, it is an all stainless model. Not sure what models they have, but for sure it is stainless. NailShooter 07-25-2006, 20:57 jbscotty Junior Member No, it is an all stainless model..... Buy it. That's a heck of a good price for a NIB all stainless MK9. NS DonD 07-26-2006, 19:16 Well, I got a phone call from the dealer, the MK9 went in the mail today (USPS). Probably will come when I am on business travel Monday. ONLY 17 weeks since it was ordered. Hope it is as reliable as the first one. Will get to the range as soon as I can. My wife wants my concealed carry to be as invisible as possible and I refuse to buy baggy clothing to cover up and my Glock 30 is hard to conceal under "normal" street clothing. Plan to carry it in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. Eager to get going. Don Dobbler 08-23-2006, 15:55 MK9 Elite '03 arrived yesterday. Beautiful little gun. The mag release seems really tight so we'll have to see how that plays out... Dobbler 08-29-2006, 11:57 We've put about 320 round through the new MK9 Elite. No FTF or FTE in the first 250 or so using mostly WWB 115g and 147g. My wife had a couple of stove pipes in the last 50 or so rounds but I'm pretty sure it was probably her limp wristing some +P :) One thing I did notice is that I can slingshot the slide to chamber the first round with 5 of the 6 magazines we own (2 6 round, 2 8 round, and one 7 round) but never this one 7 round magazine. I can't see any difference between it and the other magazines. All are Kahr factory mags BTW. I'd like to get an MK9-BOX -- does Kahr still make these and does anyone know where to get one? vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
