View Full Version : G38 Guide Rod
I finally decided to go Gapping and am in the process of buying a G38. There's 2 things that I change out on all my GLOCKs, Sights and Guide Rods.
Is the G38 Guide rod the same as a G19/23/32?
Yes.
I've owned dozens of Glocks and I used stock rods in all except my G24C Race Gun. Nothing wrong with stock--I trust my life to them.

I've also owned dozens of GLOCKs and have had 2 Plastic Factory Guide Rods break and 2 Factory front sights shoot off. That's too many in my book. 1 is a fluke, more is trouble.
Also, as an armorer I've seen many more front sights that launched themselves and a couple more broken guide rods. YMMV and you're intitled to do whatever you want.:)

Did the guns with the broken guide rods keep shooting?

Yes, sorta. One functioned normally, the other was sluggish due to the chip off the rear flange lodged in the spring. Also have seen a couple of plastic rods so galled-up that the guns were noticeably sluggish.
Will admit that I've also seen a steel rod that was screwed-up, but that was due to the operator installing the Wolff spring backwards (small dia end to the front).
