I can't decide on the G21 or XD45 Tactical to purchase. I've fired the G21, but not the XD45 T. My question is the feel of the XD45 and which in your opinion is the most reliable. I have med. size hands. How does the G21 compare in size to the G23? I need your pros and cons on both.( no XD dealers in my area) Also what LE agencies carry the G21? Thanks in advance and I hope you can help me decide.

Nobody can tell you what gun is right for you. You should try your best to find one to shoot.
But, you can't do much better in the duribility and reliability department than a Glock...

I've owned a couple of XDs and about 23 different Glocks. Here are my reasons of choosing a Glock 21 over the XD45.
1. The XD trigger has a long reset.
2. There are more than a few reports with the XD experiencing failures to feed.
3. The XD uses an internal extractor, which if too tight, will cause a failure to feed. If too loose, then there will failures to extract.
NOBODY uses internal extractors these days except 1911s, which if you shoot them, know that you will constantly have to fiddle with the extractor to make the gun reliable.
4. Bigbore, a member of GlockTalk did a torture test on a Glock 21. The gun had 150,000 rounds shot through it before he even started torturing it with all kinds of abuse. Bigbore was unable to kill the Glock 21. When he did manage to get it to jam, all it needed was some cleaning with a brillo pad and WD-40 to get it running again.
5. The Glock 21 is very accurate. I've never shot the XD45, but my XD9 and XD40 were both mediocre in the accuracy dept.
I guess that's all I can come up with off the top of my head. I've owned 3 G21s and never had a malfunction or misfire. Ditto for all 3 of my G30s.

The XD has a much more natural feel in the hand due to the way it is contoured, and because the grip was designed to be small in girth. The grip is long as hell though. All of my XD's have been very accurate, and not as finicky as the Glocks when it comes to trigger pull. I find I have to concentrate much harder when shooting with the Glocks than any other handgun.
The recoil on the G21 is much softer than with the XD, although the XD's is not bad or unmanageable. As long as you look around, you are going to pay much less for the XD than you are the Glock. But I don't think you can compare reliability between the two. The Glock wins hands down. Not necessarily because the XD is bad, it's just that the Glock has been around much longer with the track record to show for itself, and parts are readily available. Where as with the XD, if it breaks, your only option is too pretty much send it back to the factory for repair.
I have two XD's now, had three, and I have not had a single failure of any kind between any of the three.I would estimate I have shot about 1000 rounds between the three.
Thanks guys! I think I'm going with the G21. Your opinions helped. This Buds for you!..
I went with the G21 and love it! I bought it and didn't look back thanks for your opinion.

Go over to XDtalk.com and read some of the posts. There are a lot of people having reliability issues with the XD45. Today I was reading about a guy who was having failures to load, then 3 other people chimed in with the same problem. What's really strange is the gun start out reliable, then turn to crap after a few hundred rounds. I'd say the XD is about as reliable as a Glock 36.;)
