The other night noticed the barrel hood was starting to peen. I wasn't having any reliablity issues, YET but I decided to trade in on an HK P2000SK before I did. The slide on the Kahr was also very loose. When I would dry fire it the slide would wiggle around if there was no mag inserted with snap caps. For some reason the trigger was also starting to feel very gritty. I still think the PM9 is a great carry piece but I didn't think it was going to hold up to 6000rds a year so i traded it.

With that many rounds, you would probably need to replace the recoil spring. I wonder if a very weak spring could cause the peening by allowing the barrel to hit the slide...

That would have been my first thought as well but I changed the recoil rod and spring at 2350 rounds. After looking at the barrel of a new one the other day, I think the front of the hood started peening a while ago. I remember seeing it but thinking it was machined that way because it was such a clean cut. It wasn't until the top started that I noticed. It's too bad because it made such a great carry gun.
How do you like your HK 2000SK? They look like nice guns. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? How compact is the 2000SK?
Too bad about the PM9 peening.

Too bad about the PM9 peening. I love it. I have only put 300 rounds through it since Friday, so I will see how it will hold up but I don't think I have anything to worry about since its built like a tank. Recoil is much less than the PM9 which is to be expected since the HK has more mass. I am still getting used to the larger grip size as well as the LEM trigger which is very smooth but long. My only issue will be trying to conceal it with slacks because of the extra thickness. I may just have to use my P3AT on days I wear slacks so it doesn't look like im walking around with colostemy(sp?) bag.
