View Full Version : P45 at 3d CCW Class?

I've put 200+ rounds FMJ through my P45 with no problems at all. A new Comp-Tac C-TAC holster and mag carrier fit fine.
I'm signed up for a 3d CCW class later this month. Would it be too much to expect to run the P45 through the class? I'm not sure it was built for 1200rd over 3 days.
My hand is another matter - I've had no problems with 100rd in a session, but 3-4-fold that 3 days in a row might be different.
I suppose if you would be shooting lighter loads such as Federal match, or their classic 185 grain JHP, it might be fine on you. I think the gun will last based on 1k rounds through mine, admittedly not in the same time frame you are looking at.
How many mags do you have?

4 factory mags - probably the minimum to avoid too much time reloading.
It's either my P45, SIG P226 or 239 in 9mm, or SIG 245. I'll admit I more often carry my Kel-Tec P3AT, but might bring the P45 along more often if I were more confident in shooting it.
I'm sure you know the 226 would be the easiest to use, but after carrying the P45 non stop for 6 months, I'd go with it just because I know I'll probably be carrying it when the brown stuff hits the high speed occilator.
I too have a P3AT, but find I carry the P45 most of the time.

Cut a bicycle inner tube and slip it over the grip. I've done this to mine and even carry it this way. Much better on the hand.

Why not just start out with your P45, run it till she gets too uncomfortable & then switch her out to one of your other handguns? (I know none of my instructors would have had a problem with this... have seen others do exactly this for the same reasons.)

Thanks for the thoughts guys.
Any spare parts I might bring along? I'm not sure if the extractor is user replaceable, but that part comes to mind.
Maybe a 45 Bore-Snake to drag through between daily cleanings?
Bore Snake - YES
Oil or Lube - YES
Glove or handall type grip - Maybe
Extractor - ? Mine has 1k through it and never failed to extract, if yours has problems now then maybe.
Enjoy!!
