AIM Surplus vs. My Local Range

My range/gunshop has several Yugo SKS's available for $180. They seem pretty beat up. The stocks are dinged up pretty good and the bluing is pretty worn, so the $180 seems pretty high.

I see that AIM has some in excellent condition for $130 and some 'Select Super Select' for $150. AIM says these are some of the nicest they've seen.

If I add in shipping and the $25 Transfer (I don't have a C&R) I'll come out a little bit ahead if I get the $130 sks from AIM or about even if I get the $150 sks vs. what I can get at my range.

I've seen a few pictures of the AIM excellent SKS's and they look better than what my range has.

I guess what I'm worried about is ordering one from AIM and the condition being equal to what my range has. If this is the case, I would rather just buy from my range than from AIM. I guess either way I'm giving them business by buying from them or using them for the transfer.

Is it worth the extra $20 to get the 'Select Super Select' over 'Excellent'?

I've personally bought a dozen plus rifles from AIM.

This new batch of SKSs are exactly as advertised. Out of the 3 I have, this last "excellent" one is in truely pristine condition.

Not one scratch anywhere and the wood is beautiful.

Buy one of these; you will not be sorry.

Picked up a 91/30 repro sniper from them, aside from the normal wiz kid sniper problems it's in great shape and looks good.

aimsurplus.com is a good online gun broker. If you take your time to shop around, you may get a bit better deal, but you would not be that far off buying from AIM.

I would love to get a Romanian AES from AIM.

I bought one from them rated as "unissued". It was truly that, in new condition and perfect. Great customer service. I have seen very little bad reviews about them, I would not hesitate to order from them again. The rifle I got blows away all the gunshow/local gunshop specials I see around.

At the local gun show, ammunitionstore was selling used Yugo SKS's that looked great for $90. I would buy one, but I much prefer the AK.
When you can shoot the same ammo from a thirty round mag in a firearm that is as short and handy as the AK, why not?
