Random grips question

I was just wondering, seeing as how grips for the 1911 come with either just the left grip cut for a thumb safety, or both grips cut for the ambidextrous thumb safety, if a 1911 has a left side only thumb safety, would having the cutout on the right grip cause any problems? weakness that could crack under recoil due to not having the metal of the ambidextrous safety present underneath it or anything like that?

No, not really. I supose if you were to drop it on the grip or smack it with something it could be a problem.

I'm a lefty, so all my grips (wood, composite, etc.) have the cut out for an ambi-safety. No problems with any of them.
