That whole isue happened right after the Smith 1911s came out, about what, three or four years ago? Haven't heard of any issues since then. As far as I know, only some very early built guns were affected.

aglocker1911 is right. I had one and the service from S&W was outstanding.
I send the gun off on a Monday and had it back on Friday.
On top S&W replaced the safety, they thought it was too loose.
I thought it was just fine.
