View Full Version : change form 9x18 to 380 Acp
Hello, I just can not make up my mine about change barrel for 9x18 to .380 ACP.
What differ besides stopping power, why most people still keep with 9x18mm?
And how difficult to change it?
Now this day 9x18 mm. is seen to be very hard to fine and may be in the future will be more harder , what do U think should I wait until no more ammo or change it now?
Thank U

P.s. I do not reload ,sorry not room at home

Changing the barrel is not as easy as it might seem.

Before you get into a panic to change the barrel, why not just calm down and see what comes?

Amongst my hoard of Makarov stuff is a .380 barrel and barrel press. (I also found I have a threaded barrel, too, but don't know if it's .380 or 9x18.) I keep the .380 barrel just in case 9x18 ammo goes away. So far, no worries of that happening. Ammoman always seems to have some Wolf stuff, and the Makarovs don't mind Wolf one bit.
I'm glad there's still a lot of 9x18 around, too. My main carry is a Radom P64. It's perfect for the pocket, and I love it. I'd hate to have to give it up because there was no more ammo to feed it.
Some folks prefer to buy their ammo by the box instead of by the case. In that situation, I might be tempted to switch to .380 because there's always a lot of that ammunition around. Otherwise, and since I buy by the case, I'll stick to 9x18.

One of my main reasons for keeping 8 Makarovs and a P-64 and a PA 63 is the Cold War history of the caliber.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "Cold War history of the caliber."
Enlighten us, please...

Personally I wouldn't change the 9x18 to a .380.
Just start looking around for a .380 Mak.
