My brother bought his first Glock yesterday, upon my recommendation. He got a G30. Before firing, he field stripped it (correctly) and when he put it back together the top portion of the recoil spring guide rod shot-out and flew across the room. After he field stripped it again, there was an obvious break in the recoil spring guide rod(s).
Luckily, my bro lives about 15 mins from Glockmeister. Ben said that this is a common problem with the mini-Glocks w/ dual recoil springs. My brother decided to get the steel guide rod assembly (to prevent this from happening in the future) for the G30 and took it to the range. It shot very well. Accurate and no hi-cups.
Have y'all had any similar experiences w/ broken guide rods in the G30?
