When was the last time you attended one? Certs are good for 2 yrs. Regarding your question, I have no idea.

ETA - The neuro, police clearance and I forgot what the other one is are good for 6 mos.

wala pa 6 months actually. sabi kasi sa akin ng dealer kailangan ko daw umattend ulit tapos may "picture taking" requirement daw ang FED. new rule it seems.

Hi! It's true. FED now requires a picture of the applicant firing + the gun safety seminar. Pwede thru a gun club like armscor in marikina. I think even for FA LIC renewal din.

Pwede. ;)

I believe what they are after is a picture of you holding an FA in a shooting position with a name tag on you as proof you did go through a safety seminar

True! picture taking lang yan mga bro, without actually firing the gun. TApos na ang gun safey seminar!!! That's what my gun club did to me last year when they issued me a "certificate" on gun safety seminar. Nasa pinas tayo....wala sa states.

nagpa-picture na ako. exactly as sir jimbullet described. may malaking name tag na ididikit sa shooting arm as proof na nag-seminar ka. oh well. requirement e.

Grabe. Kaya lalong dumadami tinatamad magpa-renew. Rant Off.

In relation to this topic, is a gun safety still required for say a simple transport permit?

That is already the case at present.
Gun registration is once only per new owner of a gun.

Owner-licensing is a separate matter, and like all other
government-issued licenses is subject to periodic renewal,
not only for the geneation of government revenuew, but also
for purposes of monitoring the population of license holders.

I don't think you can get rid of regular license renewals.
What can be done is to follow logic: pa-cute photo-op aside ;)
the PROPER gun safety seminar's lessons apply universally to
all handguns, 'di ba?

Thus, PNP-FED requires GENERAL handgun competency for licensing.
If so, there is no need for a single owner to hold separate licenses
per handgun. FOID-type single license na lang, for howeverso many
handguns you choose to own:

Every handgun coming into your possession is registered ONCE.
You have to hold a license to own any handguns, and only that
one, single license has to be renewed regularly.

:)
