View Full Version : Tru-Glow F/O>Opinions!
I've tried about everything on my Glock 17. Ended up with the Ashley Xpress, over-sized big dot system. Fast and handy, up close and personal. However, I shot a friend's Glock 19, that had Tru-Glo F/O's. I just really enjoyed them a lot. Decided to try a set, and see how I do with them on my gun.
I have a Hi-Viz F/O on the company 870. It rocks, too. I was surprised that even with low-light indoors, they were pretty bright.
My bud thought that the Tru-Glow, made the brightest F/O's for the Glock. Any comments?
And secondly, had some guy at a gun shop, say that F/O sights tend to only last a few hundred rounds, because they are made for self-defence, and a lot of practice. I find this hard to believe, but just throwing it out there.
Thanks for any thoughts...:)

do a search on here, we have posted many things on this subject. Choose wisely
I like my Tru Glo's - best sight I've tried.
I've had Tru-Glo TFOs for a little while now, and let me tell you the quality of the product is questionable.
My first set had an undersized rear sight so it slopped around in the dovetail.
NOW my front sight is slopping left to right. I'm about ready to ditch em. :soap:

I love 'em. Had about a year and a half. Bright day and night.
As far a s lasting only a few hundred rounds, that is typical gun shop idiot mall ninja talk. Ignore such stupidity.

I've installed about 6 pair of TFO's now. Some fronts were so tight that I had to use a little gentle persuasion with a vise to get them flush on the frame and some were so loose they needed some red Loctite in the cut out to act as a filler or shim. I’ve had the same experience with the rears. I don't believe it is a Truglo issue. Think about it for a minute. Nothing on a Glock needs to be a precise fit. If you are supplying plastic sights with your weapons there's no need for +/- .0015 tolerances in the frame's sight cutouts.
Use red Loctite liberally up front, including some on the sight post if it is a loose fit, make sure the screw is not too long and you'll be fine. In the back, shim the sight with a little tin foil if it is loose and be sure to use blue Loctite on the rear set screw. Wait 24 hours before firing the weapon.

+1, I added a bit of loctite to both and it is good to go. Now the rear sight came a tad loose after 500 rounds, but I tightened it back down with loctite.

I have had the TFO on my Glock 19 for about 1 year with over 2000 rounds through it. My TFO's are just as great as when I installed them.
Also have them on my G23 & G27. Will probably put them on my G30 soon. Haven't put them on yet because my G30 with factory Tritiums is the most accurate of all my pistols and would hate to spoil such a fine shooting gun.

I have replaced all 6 of my glock N/S with the Truglo TFO. They are outstanding in all weather conditions, especialy dark rainy windy night on the waterfront or at sea. Cheaperthandirt has them for around $77.00. Lasermax and Streamlight TLR-1 and I am good to go! Best. Robert;)

I can't remember where I got this picture. I didn't take it & don't mean to take any credit for it. Thanks to whomever took it and posted it elsewhere. Hope it helps if you're considering the Tritium Fiber Optic model.

I put a set of green/green TFOs on my G19 (used red Loctite) and have since put close to 2,000 round through it without a single problem. My shooting improved, too. I bought a second set (yellow/green) for my G26 and they also have not had a problem.
The yellow is not as bright as the green, which is probably by design so that the eye focuses on the front green sight. Still, I prefer the green/green.
I love that they are bright in all light conditions. So far I'm 100% pleased with my TFOs.
Here's my G19

Thanks! I've only seen pictures of the Red/Green TFOs, never in real life. Sorry.

Now, notice the item description says "Green/Green"? Well, that's what I thought I was getting, but he accidentally sent the Yellow/Green and I decided to keep them. I'll bet he still has some Y/G, but you might want to shoot him an email before purchasing. Good luck!

Thanks John. I emailed him and the green/yellow were available. I ordered a set for my G23. You got a deal as the regular price for the green/yellow is $92.99.
BTW- I checked your site and you have more toys than anyone. Be nice to that pretty wife. Finding a women that understands a man needs guns, computers, fast cars...as well as tender care is difficult.
Thanks for the ebay link.
