Im just about to trade my Bushy .223 carbine for a Carbon 15 9mm carbine and just want some feed back, its a brand new rifle but don't know much about them, the main reason is ammo cost also I have 2 AR's almost identical. An other question is I think it comes with pro mag magazines from factory is this right? and if it is right is the pro mag a reliable mag for this rifle, cause my dealer has a few and Im planing to get a few xtra but dont want to make a mistake if they are not reliable!! any feed back will help thanks!!
Alot of people would tell ya DON'T do it !!!
This is just me , I would not do it !!!
dont down grade from 223 to 9mm, and dont touch promag mags, they are pure crap.

+1 and +1
I would imagine that if they're promag from the factory, they're probably not as bad as some of the others, but the reviews I read are 75% negative and 25% undecided, and them aren't good numbers!

the only reason Im getting the 9mm is already havr aRRA tac entry In 5.56 so I can keep up with the skills and not having to spend a fortune in ammo, what any other mags can I use besides the Colt mags , I see in the RRA site the have a mod Uzi 25rdn mag for $35.00, would that work with my rifle???
I'm just thinking out loud here, but I would think the purchase price of a 9mm would buy a lot of .223 ammo...

It would.
And right now, if you buy Wolf from Sportsman's Guide (ok, backorder it) with all the discounts it's like ten to eleven cents a round, which is what 9mm WWB is running at my local Wal-Mart.
Why not wait on the 9mm and order six or eight cases of Wolf? That will keep your skills up. This is not to mention that if you shoot over any kind of reasonable distance with your AR, you will probably be disapointed in the performance of pistol rounds coming out of one.
pro's for the 9mm carbine (no experience with the Bushmaster carbons)
1. 9mm rifles are allowed in most indoor ranges I've been to...not so with .223. If its raining or 105 degrees outside, I'm not likely to shoot at an outdoor range.
2. The indoor ranges I've been to that allow .223 do not allow rapid fire/standing, etc. with a rifle...you have to sit at a bench and/or shoot thru a firing tube.
3. I can shoot 1k of 9mm with no ill effects.....223 becomes unpleasant after 200-300 rounds. If it's fun, you're likely to practice more.
4. If you're using steel targets, the safe distance is often different and type of target are much more common with the 9mm vs. 223.
The modified UZI mags work fine with my Colt 9mm carbine...I do not know if any metal mag would be a good idea in the Bushy carbon rifles (the mag catch lockup may be polymer/polymer?)

venenoindy ,
Glad you are enjoying the new carbon ! I am STILL WAITING on an oly glock lower 9mm myself . (going on month 4) At the 6 month mark I my cancel the oly and go with the carbon myself.
Check out ar-15 . com for lots of info on the pistol cal. ARs. There is a sub forum dedicated just to these types of rifles. Also check out the Magazine sub forum , there is a vendor called C-Products that is in the development stages of producing Colt compatible mags. I own several of their 223cal mags and they are good stuff . There should be quality METAL mags, not nearly as spendy as the Colts, coming toward the end of this year. In the mean time the promags can be found reasonably cheap, $10-15 ,around the net.
Also you can't shoot .223 at the local steel matches !! ;)

I picked up a NIB Bushmaster carbon 9mm about a month ago. It came with a single mag...I bought another 2 from AIM.
After cleaning it up and inspecting it, took it to the range with 200 rounds of WWB.
No failures of any kind.
Shot great from 1st to 200.
I purchased mine for the same reasons-use in indoor ranges & some cheaper fun with a bit less wear & tear.
The Pro Mags that were designed for the weapon work fine. I also used my friends 25 round Colt SMG magazine last night at the range...no problems at all.
Combined total of rounds put down range with it now is roughly 500+.
Also, RRA is working on a 9mm 30 round mags that will hold the bolt open on the last round. The current modified Uzi can't do that...another reason RRA developed their own-should be on the market end of the summer.

Welcome to the C15 club MrBruce!!
AIM has factory bushmaster 32 round sticks for 12 bucks ea.
Since you have 2 ARs in 223 is trad for a 9mm bushy carbon.id rather have the pistol version because you can run 8-10-12 inch barrels without alll the tax stamp headaches.

Congrats on your purchase. Go to AR15.com to their rimfire and pistol caliber ARs area and you can read up on a bunch of info about similar rifles.
CProducts will be making 9mm mags in a few months, which if anything like their 30rd AR mags in Aluminum and Stainless it will be worth the wait. Also, stay away from Blazer aluminum cased ammo :)
