slide goes into batter when slamming a mag

hye i have a m9 and when its in the lock back postition and i stick a full mag in the mag well and tap the bottom of the mag to make sure it is seated the slide goes into battery. i just noticed after this that my kahr p40 and my ruger p95 both doe the same. i know if you slam the bottom of any semi auto locked bak it will go into battery but mine goes into battery with a normal speed load. is this normal .

My glock will do this if I hold it a steep angle while loading a mag. Angled away from the weak hand to ease loading.
I trained myself to not do this, now I hold it more vertically, and it hasn't happend since. Try that.
I don't like my guns doing anything, except exactly what I want.

You could have a weak spring on the slide catch. That could cause it to happen more often. Or even a worn part in the slide catch/lockback mechanism.

That sounds a little sensitive to me. It might be the nose of the bullet is a little long. Try it with some other ammo and see if it does the same. You might also want to try a different mag if you haven't tried that yet. Most all of my handguns do it if mags are inserted sharply, but not in the situation you describe.

My issued M9's don't do that much, and my 92FS only occasionally.

Both of my Full-size Beretta's (92-G and 96-G) do that if I slam the magazine in too hard.

Weak slide stop spring?

I think thats pretty normal. Some of my semi auto pistols do that. It has to do with how far the slide stop is engaged. If its barely on then the mere smacking of a mag is going to dislodge it causing the slide to go into battery. Note this should be happening when there is a mag with ammo of course !

I wouldnt change anything, besides it knocks one step out of the way. Just keep your finger off the trigger and youll be good to go !;)
