OK, not new to guns or GLOCKs, but I am new to NIB GLOCKS.
I just added a great G30 to the collection. My 23 and 27 were used when I got them. So, this is the first NEW GLOCK I've ever owned.
Is the Slide Stop Lever always this hard? My 23 and 27 (and father-in-law's 21 and 23) aren't bad at all. In fact, I questioned FIL's desire for the extended levers.
But this 30 is darn near impossible to trip. Does it relax a bit through use? After the requisite test period, this will likely become my main CCW piece, so I really don't want to add the extended levers.

I remeber when I got my G30 NIB, everything was a monster to move. I swear it took me a half an hour to take down the slide on my first cleaning.
Everything loosens up after about 1K rounds. As far as the slide stop on reloads, I always tug the slide back to release it.
Congrats on the G30!!!
Shoot straight.

Thanks.
Seriously, I really like my G23 and G27, but the G30 feels like I sent my hand to GLOCK and they built a frame to custom fit it. Which is weird, seeing as how I feel like my pa-in-law's G21 is a 2X4 in my hands.
I just need some flat-bottom mags (and Jan. 1) then I'm set to start carrying again.

I've had a G 30 for about 2 months now. Shooting it has loosened it up a little, the mags in particular. But it seems that the 30 is tighter than other Glocks I've owned and handled. For instance, putting a full mag in with a loaded chamber and the slide closed is very tight and takes a lot of effort. I think that Glock has put a big .45 round in a relatively small package and it has resulted in a tighter gun. But I love mine just the way it is.

I took my new G30 to a local gun show a few weeks after I first got it. There was a Glock armorer there who put an extended slide release on it for $20.
Best $20 I've ever spent!! The slide drops with MUCH less effort now. After that I added a couple Pearce grip extensions and a Jentra plug. The gun is so perfect that I sold all my others - they all paled in comparison.
Okay - I'm rambling...sorry. :embarassed:

I'm the same way 30/21-wise.
Everything's hard on a new 30. In my case I never use the slide release, I yank the slide. The button is easy to miss under stress (and I have, in training, due to sweaty hands). Yanking the slide is also a gross motor function and easier to do in a hurry (you can't miss the ENTIRE SLIDE unlike the release button). It's just as fast if not faster. In my case it was 98 degrees outside and I was behind cover swapping mags, hands were sweaty, tried/missed the slide release 4 times with thumb said (!@(* it and yanked slide. Never went back. Thumb kept sliding off.
