Factory Adjustable Sights - Good or Junk / Metal or Plastic?

I'm in the process of ording a new Glock 35, and it will come with the factory adjustable sights with the "White outline" (Which I'm partial to from days gone buy...) I was thinking of swapping out the front sight for an Ameriglo "thin" night site and using this in conjunction with the Factory rear adjustable as my set up....

After reading up on sights in this forum, I've read that a lot of folks think that the Factory Adjustable sight is not very good (drifting, plastic??) .... I guess I'm just trying to find out the skinny on this so that I can plan/budget accordingly. :)

1 - Are they plastic or steele?

2 - Are they really that bad, or will they suffice for my needs?

My Needs: I will mostly just be using this for home defense and a lot of killing paper:embarassed:

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!!

They are mediocre at best. No click adjustments and not enough light when aligned for precise shooting. They are also plastic and not real durable. You would be much better off with a god set of steel fixed or adjustable sights

I just wanted to confirm what CGR posted. I kept the plastic factory adjustable sight on my Glock 35 for around 6 weeks of classes and carry, and I got several major dings in it. One of the dings was on the top of the rear sight notch, so it negatively affects sight picture. They're going in the trash, and I'll be installing a set of metal sights soon. I didn't intend to wait this long, but it became kind of an experiment for me to see how long they would last. Not long, as it turns out.
