Surplusrifle.com has put together a great article comparing the effectiveness of various cleaners on the salts from corrosive ammo.

The interesting thing is that distilled water and Windex did the best jobs overall.
One thing to remember is these cleaners only had to remove salt (KCl), not salt mixed with unburned powder, powder residue, etc.
Another interesting thing is how hard it was to get the metal to rust when it had salt on it. Only when the humidity was close to 80% did corrosion start.
I've always pushed a couple Windex soaked patches through, followed by a regular cleaning and had no problems at all.
