View Full Version : MFS "+P" ammo
Just wondering if any of you have tried this ammo. I saw it today at the gun show--$11/box of 50. Didn't get any...yet.

Bushbacker found it pretty cheap.

If it was JHP I'd order some. It's still a decent price for reloadable FMJ.
I'd like to know what they call +P.

I had some 40s&w +P from MFS awhile back. Wish I had more of it. You could tell it was definetly hotter than their regular stuff but recoil was milder. I know that sounds stupid but that was the impression I had of it. Don't know if the Mak ammo would have the same characteristics or not. Would be great if it did. FWIW, I like their brass as far as reloading goes.
Since the Mak uses a blowback recooil system.

I put 20 rounds of MFS +P over my chrony. Two pulled bullets weighed 92.3 and 92.9-grains.
OAL (ins):
Range: 0.973 – 0.978
Avg: 0.975
Velocity (fps):
Range: 924 - 1006
Avg: 981
ES: 82
SD: 23
In comparison, here's chrono data for the 9x18 MFS that was available several years ago and was not labeled "+P" (10 rounds, one pulled bullet weighed 93.4-grains):
OAL (ins):
Range: 0.973 – 0.979
Avg: 0.976
Velocity (fps):
Range: 986 - 1024
Avg: 1002
ES: 38
SD: 11
This +P is more like -P , Slow and weak ammo.
