I just purchased a lasermax internal laser for my g19. I put the laser in exactly how the directions show. It was pretty self explanatory to begin with. The laser is on sometimes when the switch is in the off position. The switch is also hard as hell to move back and forth. I need to push the switch with a hard object to get it to move. The switch is also very hard to pull down when trying to strip down the gun. It seems as if the spring is much stiffer than it needs to be. I didn't know if this was somewhat normal or what, so any input would be appreciated.

Lasermax guy willl be along soon to help. I have three and they all work well. Will be purchasing four more for marine security work. Some times racking the slide seems to help. Best. Robert;)
Just a few things to check...
Looking very closely...
Are the red markers on the new switch/take-down lever facing backwards towards the shooter?
Is the little center notch on the above-mentioned lever, in contact with the "detent" in the spring?
Is the red battery cap fully seated in the half moon recess, ahead of the barrel lug, with the cap's fin at twelve o'clock?
Have you got the replacement take-down lever spring inserted as deeply as it will go into its well? Doing so will make a huge difference!
The spring is a bit stiffer than OEM, but not to the extent of causing the problems you describe.
When I installed the LaserMax in Judy's G19, I noticed it was a bit tighter, and took a little more effort than with my G21. But once installed, it has been flawless.

Sounds like the slide lock spring isn't seated fully. Render the firearm safe, point it in a safe direction and go through the disassembly sequence. Remove and place the slide and barrel on the table. With the trigger guard on a hard surface, push down firmly with the installation tool on the end of the slide lock spring. The slide lock spring should seat just below flush (about the thickness of a business card) with the level of the grip frame. You can test this by swiping the installation tool across the width of the inside of the grip frame. You should feel the tool step down onto the slide lock spring, not smoothly across or up onto it. Re-assemble, rack the slide a couple of times and see if that isn't better. If this doesn't improve things, give me a call at (800)527-3703.
Good luck and safe shooting,
Ed

Another thing that I should mention is that the switch operates perfectly smooth when the slide is off the gun.
Also, when I went to put all of the old parts back in it was very hard to get the slide lock/switch out of the gun. I push down on the spring and pull on the slide lock to remove it. It seems to catch on the inside of the gun as if the sitch needs to move lower in the slot to be removed. It took two people and a fair amount of effort with some channel locks to get the slide lock out of the gun. I am somewhat hesitant to put everything back in.

Try racking the slide and then activating the laser, it should be a lot easier with the trigger in the "cocked" position.

I just got off the phone with a representative from lasermax. He told me that I may have been supplied with the incorrect battery cap. He told me that the peak of the "fin" on the cap should continue to the edge of the cap itself. I told him that mine drops off before the edge of the cap. Apparently that cap is made for a full size glock. Can anyone confirm this on their laser for a 19/23/32/38?

On my 17 the red(fin)goes to the edge of the red cap. On my 30 it ends before the edge. Both lasermax.
LaserMax 11/05 G21: The cap's fin extends not quite to the edge of the cap.
LaserMax 02/06 G19: The cap's fin extends not quite to the edge of the cap.
Rotated 1/4 turn to the right, both "sort of" look like this: =)
Both work flawlessly.
