9mm hammer & buffer for AR pistol

OK, after much searching I fell like I still need to post these questions:

Do I need the 9mm buffer in an AR Pistol since it is a CAR length buffer tube essentially?

Do I need the 9mm hammer in a RRA upper since I already have a DPMS LPK in the lower?

Do I need to ramp the Bolt Carrier and if so is this something anyone has done themselves or would recommend even trying to do yourself and if so how?

I have a lower that I am SBRng right now but in the meantime I want to use a pistol lower so I can start having fun!

I don't know about the other stuff...

You will need the 9mm buffer. I think its 5.4oz. An H3 buffer would make an okay substitute, but the 9mm one will be cheaper. A 9mm is a blow back operated gun, believe it or not, with a standard CAR buffer it'll beat the hell out of itself and is hard on your entire gun.

Let's back up a second. Clarify: Is your AR-type pistol 9mm or .223/5.56 in caliber?

Right now stock 5.56 w/DPMS LPK but have 9mm upper and I can get a 9mm buffer if I need it.

Ramp your carrier and use the DPMS hammer. (for shooting your 9mm upper) The DPMS hammer will run both 5.56 and 9mm uppers. BUT YOU MUST RAMP YOUR CARRIER. Ramping the carrier helps relieve the pounding on the hammer and trigger pins, and IMHO should come from the factory ramped.

I ramped my own carrier, however, I have access to a mill and have some experience in metalwork. I suggest you google M60joe. He does this for a reasonable price. I would provide a link, but alas I am having puter problems.
