Hello and help,
I have XP home with NIS 2005 installed on a new system. I have been receiving Security Alerts and blocked contact on localhost from a BD Blade Runner 0.80a. This began occurring upon visiting one or two sites. Have used current updates and doing several scans over several days have showed no infection. Downloaded AVG and installed/updated and the scan showed no infection. Downloaded McAffee Trialware Personal Firewall and have it running also. It shows many alerts but none of that type. NIS online security scan showed no infections or concerns on numerous scans. When I follow the link provided by NIS it triggers the alert and blocking. When on their site and I enter the name of the Trojan in the search box it triggers the same alert. Their Tech support advised me that the problem was with my IP. My IP assures that it is fully protected and that assumption is impossible. I did turn on my Antispam auto blocking as they advised, no help. Today I did the online scan and again no infection/problems but on clicking the detail analysis of Trojan link I began receiving the alert continuously, even after I went offline and pulled the modem cable out. Had to reboot.
The alerts say I need do nothing as it is automatically blocking the communication and that a computer sent info characteristic of the BD Blade Runner attack. It then says to reduce the number of alerts that I should add the computer to the Trusted Zone if it is a legitimate connection. Norton Tech support infers that I am infected and that they can hook me up with the pay service for further help in eliminating the infection.
Sorry for the length but I have been getting no direct answers to my direct questions and alot of assurances of help from the pay service.
Am I infected. If so what should be done?
Please help!!!
Glenn
