Brass cased, berdan-primed (not reloadable) FMJ, Polish made. $6.50 a box at aimsurplus. Along with some CZ 82s.

I've recieved my 7,000 rds of this ammo from AIM and it shoots superb from all of my DDR maks. I'm going to do the "nail" test to determine if indeed it is non corrosive as advertised because in 1992 most of the other former ComBloc states still had vast stocks of corrosive primers they had to use up.
Got my 500 rds yesterday and am looking forward to trying it out on Sat.
I'll save a box of Silver Bear until it becomes available again and plink with this stuff. looks like decent ammo.

Keep us posted on your findings.

CCV - how does a nail test work? Any reading on the subject you can point me to?
While I've never done this, I would assume this involves exposing unprotected nails to the primer residue to test to see if this residue causes the nail to rust.
RENEA is the one who indicated he was going to conduct the test and I am very interested in his findings.

I took one of my DDR Maks to the range this morning and took along 200 rds of the MESKO ammunition. It shot very well, much better than the 109 grain Wolf currently on the market. A friend of mine informed me that this is simply repackaged Polish military ammunition intended for retail sale in Europe after the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact. The dates on all of my ammunition is either January or February 1992. I'm going to conduct a "nail test this evening with 3 primed cases and post results here. :)
All in all, buy with confidence as this is great Makarov ammo.
I guess I better grab another 500 rds :supergrin:
BEFORE its ALL gone!!!

Here's data from 20 cartridges.
Copper-washed steel case, berdan primed, non-corrosive (I hope) primer;
Two pulled bullets weighed 93.1 and 92.5-gr;
Bullets are copper-coated steel-cased;
Cartridge case and bullet are magnetic.
Overall Length:
Range: 0.947 – 0.977
Avg: 0.972
Velocity (fps):
Range: 927 - 1050
Avg: 977
ES: 96
SD: 35
I fired 50 rounds of this ammo during my range visit today. It is some of the most accurate Mak ammo I've tried. Recoil was light (compared to the Russian stuff) and fired cases didn't end up on the other side of the range. One fired case failed to clear the ejection port (unheard of in this pistol) but all other rounds fired and ejected fine.
It is fine ammo for the price, especially considering MAK ammo is a bit scarce today.
Go for it!

The headstamp is not consistent with military ammo. Not saying your friend is wrong, just that I have never seen military ammo with a headstamp like this.

I was thinking about that as well. We'll probabl;y never know 100% though:) . What I do know is that this ammo is a great deal now on the surplus market for all of us Makarovniks.:beer:
Ran 100 rounds thru my Bulgy a couple of days ago and it was flawless. No FTF/FTE/jams or any sort of nonsense. Very accurate as well and easy on the hands.
REAL good ammo - I'll probably grab another 500 rds.
