has anyone had any problems with the sights on their glocks? I just bought myself my first glock, a G23, and i've heard that the plastic sights are far inferior to the metal replacements and the night sights that are on the market....whats your opinion?

When I got my G23 in '95, I couldn't hit the ground with the factory fixed sites. I just could not get my mind around those U-Dot sites. After a few years, I put some Aero-Tek 3-dots sights and was able call my shots at 20 yards. New sights made a world of difference for me.
I actually liked mine out of the box. Not sure if they were metal or plastic, they got changed out for night sights pretty quick. Took me a long time to learn to shoot the night sights as well as I shot the stock sights right out of the box. I'm guessing a couple weeks and a thousand rounds of ammo.

My G23 has the factory fixed sights and I shoot fine with them (27 shots at 22 feet)

Demarest,
I agree it was all in my head. I am a pretty decent shot. I regularly shoot expert at work (w/ Sig P228). I scored a perfect score when I attended the NRA LEAD LE Firearms Instructors Course (w/ Beretta 92). It could have been that it was my first Glock, or my first .40 cal pistol. What ever it was, I intended on selling it. Then after the new sights, I decided not to. I have added a G19 to my collection, and I shot it well right out of the box, but it came with 3-dot night sights. My latest pistol is an S&W 1911PD Gunsite Edition; she has a front brass bead sight and a black rear Novak sight. It shoots absolutely great for me. I'm sure the reason was I never mastered the factory Glock fixed sights; it was just frustrating for me, I punked out and got the after markets... it worked for me.
My stock site on the 23 were fine, but I constiantly shot upper left. So, I installed Tru-Glo TFO, and guess what? I still shot upper left. I was not applying 70% grip with my left hand as a right dominant shooter.
So, after realizing that, I am DOB accurate.
It might not be the sights, but the techique.
