I've had a K31 for quite a while, havn't shot it in a couple months though..
Anyways brought it with me today, and I have to say, everytime I take this thing out it impresses me. I had a white 2x4 set up about 200 yards out, and off hand I busted the thing apart in 6 shots.
I really need to remember some tacks so I can put up a target next time to see how well I can do off hand.

This was last weekend. k31 with side mount and burris scope at 100 yards. The dang flyer in each group is my fault. Best shooting I've done in quite awhile. I'd love to see what an expert marksman could do with it.

Here is a 3 shot group with my reloads. I am still working on a better load. I just ordered me another walnut stocked K31 from AIM. It should be here this week sometime. :)

To celebrate my Independence, I bought one today from AIM.

Good for you Goblue:) . July 4th is a great day to buy a gun. In fact I think I am gonna order one of those shooter M48 Mausers from Aim today!. Jack, let us know how that K31 turns out. I don't need any more but if they are the real nice ones with tigerstriping on them I might have to dig a little deep in the wallet;) . In the little research I've done with K31 reloading I don't think you can use a better Powder for the 7.5 swiss than IMR 4064.

If you order one of the M48's from AIM let me know what you think of it. I actually started to order one of those but my two K31's were what I consider shooter grade and AIM is advertising these walnut stocked K31's as Very Clean Rifles in Very-good+ Condition.
I have grown very fond of the 8mm cartridge and the rifles that fire them. I ordered me two of the Yugo 24/47's and like them a lot. If I can't find a M48 in real good condition I might have to settle on a shooter grade M48.
I ordered the K31 I think on Saturday and they haven't charged my debit card yet. I called today to find out about the status but I guess they were closed for the 4th. I will let everyone know how it looks when it comes in.
Last night I reloaded some more rounds for my K31 using a different bullet that I haven't tried before but haven't had a chance to shoot them yet. I hope to work up a very accurate load for my K31.

Ordered last evening. Might check out Samco in Shotgun News, I believe they still have several grades of M48's. The ones from Aim that some guys at surplusrifle have got showed good wood and matching parts just not much blueing. All seemed to show bores with use but still had good rifling. If the woods decent I'll be happy. I'll "blue wonder" the metal and it will look fine. I just worked up some loads for the k31 using Sierra 175gr matchkings. This is the first time I've loaded up using "real" match bullets so I'll see how they do.

I called AIM today. They said my K31 would ship out today. So I should get it maybe thursday or friday. :)

Well, I got my K31 today. All I can say is :frown: They advertised these as "Very Clean Rifles in Very-good+Condition." Suppose to be "Select Grade ".
I could be wrong but I am pretty sure they advertised these as Very-good + Condition. Now the web-site just says very-good condition.
Anyway, this rifle is in no better shape than my other walnut and beech stocked K31's were in before I refinished them. The stock is fairly beat up with several large scratches and gouges and a lot of dents and dings.
I called AIM and they told me to send it back and they would make it right. They told me if it was in the condition I described they would reimburse me the shipping.
I hope that this rating system that they use isn't that far from what I would have rated this rifle. They are rating their beech stocked rifles as standard grade and this is what this walnut stocked one that they sent me should have been.:frown: :frown:
bummer Jack. I get mine in on Monday and will post pics.

I sure wish you better luck than I had. I have never had any trouble with AIM and I do hope they make it right. The two Yugo 24/47's that I have ordered in the past are in much better shape than this K31 was. I would have taken pics and posted them but by the time they had delivered it this evening and I recovered from the shock I barely had time to get it back to UPS for shipment back to AIM. I guess it happens. :)

I should add that if all of the K31's that AIM have are in the shape of the one they sent me I would just as soon have a refund. I have already refinished two of them and I am not looking to do another. :frown:

Sorry to hear about the k31 Jack. I think me and my father will hold steady at 11 k31's for right now. How was the blueing? Yeah I've refinished about 4 k31 stocks and a little time and effort will make them "Excellent" condition rifles. No, won't get the M48 till probably next week. Takes about a week from order till when I get stuff from them. Gotta say their 24/47's are very nice. My stock was in good condition overall and nearly 100% blueing. The bore was the best I've gotten on a 8mm mauser except for my Persian Mauser. Looked nearly better than your average K31 bore;) .

The only good thing about the K31 they sent me was that the receiver bluing was very good but the barrel end wasn't so good. The very end of the barrel was totally missing any bluing. It looked like someone had installed and removed a bayonet a lot.
The bore looked good and was shinny. It cost me $34.00 to send it back to AIM. UPS wouldn't let me send it back ground, I had to send it back one day air.
If AIM hadn't made it sound like these rifles were in such good shape and graded it correctly with appropriate pricing I would have kept it. That's not to say they won't make it right and send me a nice one.
I honestly think in the long run I will lose in this deal though. I have my doubts AIM will reimburse me the $34.00 shipping cost.

I hope this isn't true. Got this from a post from another forum. Jonathon, I apologize for hijacking your thread.
"I do not do any business with AIM anymore.
I bought a Yugo Mauser from them and the bolt wouldn't close even without a cartridge in it. They said they would "make it right" it took over 1.5 months for them to ship me another. They wouldn't reimburse any shipping costs.
I bought an Enfield from them. The gun looked like it had been dragged behind a truck. I could easily insert a .020" feeler gauge between the no-go gauge and the bolt. I only neck size so I could actually live with the excessive headspace and I could get over the looks so I took it out and shot it. Every shot keyholed at 25yds. Taking a closer look at the middle of the barrel there wasn't any rifling there. The gun was a worn out piece of cr@p. I called them and told them what I found and sent it back with a letter explaining the problems with the gun. AIM charged me a restocking fee - they claimed that there wasn't anything wrong with the gun.
I have had very good results with the products and service from SOG so AIM is off my list."
Just unpacked.... Haven't even looked at the barrel.
From AIM.

I am interested in your opinion about the condition of your K31. Do you think it was an accurate representation?

No I don't. I sent everything back.

It may be coincidence but the one they sent me had that little nick on the front sight blade too. Third pic down.
do you have another coming.
Other's opinion? Is this not a very good condition rifle?

The way AIM advertised it: We just received a new shipment and it is by far the best yet! These Rifles have some of the nicest looking Walnut stocks we have seen. Select Grade w/ Walnut Stock.
My opinion, I was disappointed. The two K31's I received in the past were not advertised like this and they were in as good or better shape than the most recent one I received.
Now don't get me wrong. I think the K31 I got was basically a nice rifle, I just don't think it was up to par the way they advertised it. And I really can't remember what I paid for my other walnut stocked K31 (I think $129.00)but I don't think it was as much as the one I sent back.

I am in limbo right now. They are sold out of the walnut stocked K31's right now. I was told they are suppose to get another shipment in about two weeks. The original plan was for them to pick me out a nice one and send it to me.
This may end up being good luck for me though. A person at AIM told me some very interesting news. They are suppose to call me back Thursday with more info. :)

What news would that be?:) Goblue, I wouldn't be upset, I've seen and bought K31's in a lot worse shape than yours. While Aim's "excellent condition" might not be true, it is still a nice rifle and if you decide you want to refinish it, you could make it into a prom queen:supergrin: . Jack, UPS is suppossed to deliver my M48 tomorrow, we'll see how that goes. Did any of you guys get in on Aim's gunsmith special's on Finnish 91/30's last weekend? They had some good deals and by 9AM Monday morning they had sold all of them!

I finally received my refund from AIM on the K31. This experience ended up costing me $50.50 when it was done. I am very disappointed with AIM at this time.
I guess it's just a matter of opinion but I feel they mis-represented themselves. I still feel AIM is a good place to do business with and when I am able to cool down will get over this just fine.
I did learn one thing, if you order something be prepared to keep it because if you don't and you send it back you will be the loser $$$$ wise. :frown:
I ended up keeping the K31. I haven't had time to really look it over or clean it up yet so I don't know how it will look when I am done. Too bad about your experience Jack.

It happens. I guess I was just use to AIM's ratings being as good or better than I expected. From now on I will order with a more open mind and not expect someone Else's grading to match mine. I still think AIM is a good place to do business with and I won't hesitate to order from them in the future. :)
I think it's totally hit or miss with ordering milsurp rifles online. I have 2 K31s. Paid $150 for one from Alans Armory and $100 for one from AIM. The one from AIM is just as nice....
