View Full Version : Mags
Anyone have any D&L mags for AR's? If so are they as good as the company says they are?

That's an interesting design. I haven't seen one of those before.

Neither have I.
I've used anti-tilt followers, but that's a whole diferent ball game right there. Curious to here a review from somebody on here.
Price is not listed. I wonder how much they want for those?

Probably a lot. It's the same when you can't see the price unless you add it to your shopping cart........It's always because it's a lot.

They do what they're designed to do. Several potential issues with the standard USGI mag are addressed. Designed and intended for serious use by serious folks.
They are expensive, at $60+/- a pop. They will fail the cost:benefit test for most folks, and Dave Lauck will be the first to tell you that.
There are threads on them elsewhere.
I am gonna call for a price Wednesday:supergrin:
Smoke and Mirrors.
Would anyone care to take a wild guess as to whether or not this new-fangled mag has a NSN?
I saw Dave Lauck's name... thought I had heard of him. A fairly well known 1911 smith. Interesting design certainly. $60+ is going to be a tough sell imo.

So...what does this provide the user that a USGI mag with a quality spring, Magpul follower, and Magpul/Ranger plate doesn't provide?
It wasn't obvious to me from the info on the site. There has to be something to justify that kind of price.

Most modern magazine followers are so poorly designed they repeatedly fail to deliver top cartridges into the proper feeding position against the feed lips of the magazine... There have been many attempts at fixing these problems with unacceptable results.
Hmm, sounds like he's saying magpul sucks :P
And I haven't heard of major problems with current gen USGI greenies.

Trying to make things cheaper (and even less reliable) to win big sales contracts is obviously unacceptable when lives hang in the balance... Dave Lauck will consider licensing agreements with companies capable of quality production.
He just wants to make some licensing cash. I have nothing against that, I've done it myself a time or two. But his hype is 'extreme shock' worthy ;) or in his case "Extreme Duty" (direct quote).
Heck go buy some CP stainless mags with magpull followers and ranger plats for $20 :P You'll come out ahead at a 3:1 ratio.

Okie, don't do it! These anti-dive followers really only matter on full auto. Unless you have a machiegun don't worry about it. Get C-Products magazines. You can get em' with the MagPul followers or the old style green ones for less than $10 each, and they'll serve you just as well as those high dollar magazines in your semi-auto.

Buy more magazines for the same amount of money.

I'd suggest CP for stainless... D&H Teflon for Aluminum. Buy a few of each and you'll be set ;)
