View Full Version : Dawson Adjustable
Gday Folks
Has anyone tried the Dawson Precision Adjustable rear sight?
I've ordered one for my G17 and am interested in opinions.
Anyone have photo's of them on a gun? just want to see how low they sit on the slide.
The image below is the sight off the gun.
Thanks
Terry

I recently ordered a set (attached) for my new G17, from CGR, and I really like them. They're well-made and professional looking.
They perch higher than the stock sights, but not overly so. They look great, adding a high-end touch to a workhorse gun.
To avoid problems, I would recommend the following:
1) If you're not familiar with this-type product, get amplified instructions on the rear sight.
2) If the rear sight gives problems, a little Liquid Teflon Lubricant works wonders.
CGR readily addressed all my questions and concerns.
I would recommend swapping out the installed red fiber optic with the green one, for all around use.
Be patient adjusting the POA/POI
The three of us (Judy, my oldest son, and I) went to the range today, toting my G21, her G19, and the new G17 with DPS. Judy & Harry shot their best, overall, with the DPS-equipped G17--a first time with these sights for both shooters.

Thanks for that. Any pics with them on the G17?
I ordered the rear and a tritium front seperately not as a set, fibre is no good for me as I shoot IPSC production and fibre are not allowed at this time.

Negative on the pics--currently shopping for new camera.

Thanks anyway.

Anybody else got photo's?
Here you go. This is my G34. I am very pleased with this combination. I got mine from Gunracing.com.

I've have a set of DP FO adjustables on my G34. Very nice set of sights... I like that the adjustments (clicks) are very small, so you can really dial it in.

Did you mount them yourself?
.305 tall front? I have the .285 and the rear sight sits flush on the slide. I got lucky in that the point of impact was right on vertically.
Here's the rear shot.

Sight sits flush with slide. Fairly sharp edges but a very good sight picture indeed.

My front is .285 as well. That is as low as mine will go.

If you need to adjust it down more, unscrew elevation screw and flip sight up. Pressing down while unscrewing will help. Once you flip the sight up, pull out the two springs. Cut one coil off each one. They will no longer bind then, allowing the sight to sit lower.
Moot, if you're right on already.
Thansk for the tip. I feel better having a little more "down" if I need it.
