View Full Version : Anyone shoot DT Ammo in their G30's?
How about a range report!

I've shot some through my G21.They're accurate, definitely recoil like a +P,but some of the last ones I shot was showing bulges and I won't buy anymore because of that.I'm sorta of afraid of even carrying them now.I'm thinking of going back to regular Speer 230 Gold Dots. The DT's I've got(and shot) are a few different boxes of 230 Gold Dots, but all the same lot number.I've saw a few other people on here having the same problem.

Hey Ljunatic,I remeber you posting that pic in the reloading forum and I also remember posting I didn't have any problems with mine. That's changed now after a couple more boxes.Mine are nickel plated cases.I have saw worse bulges out of Sigmas with factory loads and not DT's or +P either.
I was shooting the "match" loads with 230 gr FMJ on top of the 1010 fps powder - $8 bucks is $8 bucks - this is the nickel plated brass. I also ran two magazines of GDHP through, no issues, and the gigantic HP of the PMC stuff fed perfectly.
I was seriously concerned that this would be untenable in a G30 since it's fairly stout in my 1911 and my G21. I have been *so* impressed by the G30's accuracy, comfort and controllability, and shooting DT strongly reinforced that impression. Totally controllable and comfortable.
I was shooting in a meadow and only got about 10 pieces of brass picked up, no pressure indications or bulged brass at all.
I carry DT's 125 gr 357 SIG in my G33, and as I finished my 500 rds in my G30 without a hiccup, I'm carrying the 230 gr GDHP in my G30. I am so glad to have a company like DT making first class ammo.
Regards,
Brian in CA

I don't follow what has changed.:freak: You are now having bulges or you are not?
Maybe the brass was the problem, but DT never got back to me about the samples I returned. I have since decided that Standard velocity 230gr rounds are what i want to carry, so I have gone with Speer and (considering Federal HST)

Please note that non of the 100 rounds I fired failed in any way.I just had bulges that I thought were pretty huge, and since I had never had any other ammo do that in this G30, I thought it was worth a discussion.

I'm having buldges now that it's summer, but didn't before.I'm just like you,I'm going back to standard pressure/velocity Speer 230gr rounds.I like giving business to small newer businesses, but it's not worth ruining my Glock.
