Is Beretta discontinuing the 92FS?

I was at a Turner's Outdoorsman (Riverside, CA) yesterday and one of the "combat counter-salesman" there told me that Beretta is discontinuing their 92FS?????

Is this true or false? Or did he mean the civilian M9 or what? I hope this is just a nasty rumor that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

The scary thing is that another salesman standing next to him backed up the same story. They said they just heard of this "discontinued" item this week.

I've found on several occassion that many gun store salespeople don't know what they are talking about 50% of the time and are giving bad info half the time!

Someone with actual knowledge of this rumor, please help verify/clarify this story!!!!!!!!!1

Beretta is not discontinuing the 92FS.They are however severly curtailing the various sub-catagories like compacts,inox,G's,D's,Vertec's are gone.In other words they are streamlining there inventory and only making special runs of certain guns when demand requires.

Per the staff at one of the Beretta Galleries, they're really pushing the PX4. He didn't seem to completly share Beretta's enthusiasim with the PX4, but that might just be his feelings, not based on anything real. I wouldn't believe anything reported by gun store workers.

Im not sure if they a discontinuing the 92fs but, I bought one at gander mountain for $499.00. They have been going for around $599.00 to $650.00 around where I live for a blued one. Even the salesman said " they have really dropped the price on these".

I heard the same thing from Turner's Reseda after they showed me the PX4 Storm.
