I had the chance to test my new Glock 30 for the first time today. I've been wanting one of these for quite some time and I finally decided to get one last week. I took 250 rounds of my reloads with me, topped off with 230 gr. Magtech FMJ bullets and a few Rainiers too. My observations and experiences are as follows:
1. Recoil is light because of the wideness of the grip. 250 rds with my SA 1911A1 would leave torn skin on the web of my right hand. Very pleasurable to shoot!
2. It requires a lot of effort to seat a fully loaded 10 rd. mag, unless the slide is locked back. After awhile I started loading only 9 rounds.
3. Accuracy is very good for a short barreled gun. My gun shoots just a bit to the right of point of aim. My sights are not adjustable. Kentucky windage. Besides, most right handers will jerk to the 5 o' clock position during rapid firing.
4. No failures of any kind, my reloads, and the empties are only 4 feet away at 3 or 4 o' clock.
I did all of my firing at 10 yards and at 3 different targets a few feet apart. Most of the rounds were expended in 9 rounds rapid fire drills on all 3 targets. I own 2 other Glocks, a 19 and a 23, and this 30 is well on it's way to proving itself as a reliablility king.
I just got done cleaning the barrel and some of the deposits near the chamber throat did require some scrubbing, but that's to be expected. Overall I'm a born again Glock believer because of this 30. Now all I need is a carry rig, probably IWB and some extra mags. My carry ammo will be Magtech 230 gr. JHP +P loads. Although this gun appears a bit thick, maybe I'll need to get some bigger pants

My only regret is not getting this thing sooner and not being caught up in all the hype and reviews concerning the SA XD 45.
