View Full Version : Photo Resizing Advice
What are the appropriate dimensions for resizing digital photos into wallpaper so that they aren't distorted?
I just use them as they are from the camera. No resizing needed. I have done this one both the Canon Digital Rebel XT and my Kodak Z7590.
Yes, normally I do that as well.
However, I have some shots that I cropped, and once cropped, become distorted as wallpaper. They are either too big or too small.
I was wondering if I could resize the cropped photos to a dimension that would make good wallpaper.
If you have XP, when you select wallpaper make sure you choose the option "Center" under "Position", instead of "Stretch". That way the OS will not distort your pictures.
As to what size you need to pick for yourself depends on the resolution of your screen. Personally, I prefer to have a little dark frame around to offset my icons nicely, but you can size it to fill your screen, it's up to you.
It's usually done on an 8 to 6 ratio on CRT monitors.
In other words, 800x600 pixels works, as does 1024x768.
But 1024x1000 or 800x700 looks terrible, as you say.
