I just purchased a brand new G36. After I bought it I realized that it was manufactured in 2002. I started reading past threads on the G36 and found a post that stated there was a problem with the "E" series frames. Apparently they were recalled and needed to be replaced. My serial # starts with an "EW".
Did I make a big mistake? Does anyone with an E-series G36 have any experience with this recall?

check this thread:

also, do a search for "recall" there a phone number posted somehwere that you can call glock and inquire as to whether or not your gun is affected (or is it effected) by the recall.

I checked the link you provided (thank you) but my serial number range isn't mentioned. My G36 is EWW. They only show EWU and EWV. I did a search on "recall" and couldn't find anything else.

Give Glock a call and ask them. They will quickly look up the number and tell you if your gun is on the list.
FWIW my G36 EZE was not on the list.

Mine was one of the G36s. I called Glock and they were extremely nice and helpful, even though they knew I wasn't the original owner.
I had it back in my hands nine days from shipment, if I remember correctly.

Thanks everybody for the help. I called glock and they said there was a frame replacement for the E series G36. However, it did not affect the entire E series. The customer service rep. said the G36's that started with EWW were made with the new frame. Big relief. I hate sending things back to the factory. Thanks again.

I won't be able to shoot the 36 for a few more weeks. I had shoulder surgery done 3 weeks ago and I am just now able to extend my arm. Can't wait to shoot it.
