How can you tell if key-logging software has been downloaded...and is there any way to blast it if it has? thanks
Yes and yes.

You can also use the task manager or third-party utility to see a list of the processes which are active on your machine, and compare any suspicious entries to the lists of appropriate processes that should otherwise be running for your OS.

Windows Processes Explained
Are you talking about at work or at home?
I have a semi-comical related story. At my last job, we had a guy who was surfing the net most of the day and the owners set up some kind of program that would screen dump his computer every so often. He discovered it somehow (CPU usage I think) and successfully hacked in and turned it off. A couple of the owners escorted him to the door within a few minutes. This guy was a bit unstable and started making threatening calls and circling the building a couple of times every few days. That was pretty scary. I learned through the process that a G23 in a SmartCarry is extremely uncomfortable. ;) Eventually, the guy got some mental help and I think he's doing ok now.
