Anyone had much exposure to, or experience using Federal's Tactical HST Law Enforcement ammo in 45 caliber, especially in a Glock model 30. That is why I posted it here. I have read both pro and con on this ammo. What do yall think?

Yes, the agency I am working for issues it in .45 ACP. We are using the +P loading and our Glock 21's seem to like this particular load very well. Winchester put on a ballistic workshop in our area a little under one year ago and we submitted this ammunition for comparison against the Ranger load. The HST performed very well and had better expansion than the Ranger load. I carry it in a Glock 30 and it feels a bit closer to my model 29 in 10mm as far as recoil with this +P loading, but it works very well in the 30.

I am carrying the 230gr. non+Ps in my 30 right now. I have not shot them yet. I will buy some more soon so I can have some to burn. I feel confident as my 30 (and my 21) have eaten everything I have fed them, even some of my funky long-loaded JHP handloads, so I 99.9% sure they will work fine.

I just recieved a shipment from Mirage Tech and it includes 100 HST 230gr. Though I normally carry 230gr GoldDots, I will give them an evaluation. I must question the wisdom of carrying ammo that has not been thoroughly tested in your gun.

I knew someone would ;)

I never said it was wise or even smart. I do plan to try some this weekend though. Besides I have a new baseplate that I put on my mag that I need to test also. Until then I am putting my faith in my Glock that has yet to let me down, just as people trust that those new fangled automatics won't jam on them or else they would be carrying a revolver.

I trust my G30 too, BUT I have had a few JHP's hangup on the feed ramp, and it was usually with a round like the HST that has a large open cavity for a hollowpoint.

Ran some through it today. Worked great.
