View Full Version : Scroll wheel stopped working?
Has anyone had this happen? The scroll wheel on my mouse has stopped working in windows. The device itself still works because it still functions while in video games. But when just in windows (i.e. web browsing), it doesn’t scroll the page up/down anymore. I've tried updating the drivers but that doesn’t seem to work.
Aint windows great!? :freak: :crying:

If it works in games then the drivers should be okay. It's the browser where it's not working.Check browser settings.

What browser?
If you're using MSIE....
Try downloading Firefox or Opera, and see if your scroll wheel works better in them.
Those two are much better browsers than MSIE anyways...

I still wonder if it's not a driver issue.
Is it a MS mouse? If so, go to http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx and DL the latest drivers for your particular mouse and install them. See if this works.
My thoughts are that the games may be specifically enabling the wheel with their software containing some drivers, while something is corrupted in the Windows mouse drivers.
After installation, go to Control Panel and make sure that the proper mouse is selected and using the drivers/settings appropriate for your device.
Its a combo set. Its this one. Logitech® Cordless Desktop® MX™ 3000 Laser (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2162,CONTENTID=10709)As for my browser, its IE, i never cared for firefox. The thing about it though, is that its not just web browsing. Even when i use MSWord, it still doesnt work.
OK, still sounds like a driver corruption problem.
DL the latest drivers/utilities for the mouse.
Boot into Safe Mode, go to the Device Manager (right mouse click on My Computer icon, pick properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager), expand the "Mice and other pointing devices", DELETE all and reboot. Install the newly DL'd drivers and see if this solves the problem.
Logitech's SetPoint software can be rather buggy and this is a known issue.
Open up SetPoint, and click on the "My Mouse" tab. On the left side, you should see a tab with a cursor arrow on it (Mouse Movement tab)- click on it. There you'll find a drop down menu titled "Scrolling Size." Set this to the selection you want, click Apply, then OK. This should take care of your problem.
Did you try cliking on the page first?
Sometimes the focus is on a different frame of the web page and you have to click in the frame to get it to scroll.
