How best do I remove the sharp edge of the S&W extended tang so that it does not cut my thumb knuckle skin? I'm looking for an effective and cosmetically proper way...

I'm thinking of using a little 1000 cloth and finishing with metal polish...

Comments? Opinions?

Thanks, Cars

That sounds good to me. Another way would be trade for a INTERARMS no tang.:tongueout:     :hearts::rofl:

I found that using a bit more agressive grit first worded better. I think I started out with 220, then went to 400 and finished up with some flitz. I used a little block of wood to try to keep it even where I could.

It definately makes a big difference. Don't understand why they don't do that at the factory.

Of course this only works on stainless guns!

I went out to night and shot both of my PPK/S and didn't notice the tang bite. I was useing Corbon Dpx and the 90grHP and nothing. Oh!!! wait I know, its because mine are Interarms and are made right.
Sorry couldn't resist
Looked at a S&W PPK today. You could use the lettering on the ejection side of slide as a cheese grater. Come on S&W you can do better than this. Their is no reason to let this kind of poor QC out of factory.

I've discovered the tang bite is dependent on grip more than hand size. If I tuck my support thumb tightly back and place my my support thumb over it (this keeps my strong thumb out of the way of my triger finger) my thumb knuckle gets pressed up against the tang.

If I shoot in a thumbs forward grip I don't get bit...

I fixed mine with a ultra fine honing stone out of my Lansky kit.

Worked like a charm. Was a stainless version though. Blended right in.
