Can you get metal sights that are identical to the plastic ones that are factory on the Glocks? If so where can I find them? If not what are some other options? Thanks ST

Yes the Glock steel sights are available. Mine is 7.3 instead of 6.9.
You might check some of these places:

+1 above. And check Lone Wolf Distributing (www.lonewolfdist.com) also. Replacing the stock plastic sights with metal ones is the most important mod you can do for a new Glock. The other option is to put Tritium on it. Obviously much more expensive, but worth it IMO. All the Tritium sights are metal BTW.

The front sight is the one most likely to break. On my G19 I replaced the plastic front sight with a Hi-Viz front sight and kept the plastic rear sight.

Yes, as others have said. I like the ball-in-a-box sight picture and have steel Glock sights on a couple of my guns. The rear notch seems a bit deeper than the plastic version and the dot on the steel front is bigger and brighter than on the plastic version.

When measuring a fixed rear Glock sight, one measures from the base of the dovetail, to- where? The bottom of the sight notch? If so, none will suit me, as my Glock adjustable rear is cranked almost all the way down.

The only Glock adjustable I own is on the Advantage Arms conversion.
Using a vernier (and my results were far from consistent), the adjustables are zeroed at 0.212" above the slide, while my +1 factory fixed measures 0.180" above the slide.
The top of the frame on the adjustables is 0.155", and it appears that the actual sight will crank at least that low and maybe a little lower. I'm not willing to loose a zero just to find out; sorry. Chuck, is that consistent with your measures?
Having the sight cranked all the way down, a thought...on the plastic and the adjustable sight, the notch is not quite as deep as the perceived diameter of the ball on the front sight. Sooooo, when you drop the ball in the box, there is a tendency to pull the ball up out of the notch 'till you can see it all, making the gun shoot a little high.
The OEM steel sights have a slightly deeper notch (0.079" vs 0.096") which reduces the tendency to pull the ball up out of the box. Even with the +1 steel sights, I'm only hitting a little above point of aim with a G17 & a G26.
So an OEM -1 rear MIGHT serve your purpose; each sight is roughly 94% of the height of the next taller sight.
Chuck, are you able to get a zero with the adjustables, or are you just close to the end of travel?

Our XS sights are machined steel, with a white insert for the Big Dot. They appear very well made.
