Hey guys. I have an A2 style M4gery AR-15 and I want to get an ACOG.
Anyway, does anyone have an A2 style with an ACOG mounted on the carry handle? If so, may I see pics. Would anyone recomment this? I know the obvious answer is "Get another Ar with a flat top" but that isnt an option.

So, does anyone have this set up or pics of this set up? And besides the obvious con of having to have your head up so high wha are the pros and cons of this setup?

Thanks all!

I really like the Compact line of ACOG's with an A2 as they are smaller and lighter (and cheaper). The 2X powered models are my personal favorites.

If your forced to mount a scope on the carry handle the ACOG is about the best option. I will try to find some pics for you.

I tried my compact ACOG mounted on a detachable carry handle for a while. It worked fine, but I don't like how high the optic sits in the carry handle.

Here's a close up of my AR with the TA-11. Although it looks high (for cheekweld) it isn't that bad. You cannot tell in this pic but I have the Magpul Precision Stock and I have it adjusted for a great cheekweld).

Here's another broader view of the rifle with the TA-11. Hope that helps you with your decision to mount one on an A2...

Actually I sold it to a fella serving in Iraq about a year ago... Sorry.

Thats not good enough. Get it back and sell it to me. :)

A good act to sell to a soldier.
Im sure they are putting it to better use than I could for my hobby AR.

I have an ACOG TA01 on my A2 upper (BM 16" fluted Hbar). For off-hand shooting it works fine as is. But if your shooting from a bench or prone and trying for precision accuracy then a cheek riser is necessary. There are several different ones available now for both fixed and tele stocks. While I might prefer to have a flat top upper, this setup works great for me and is hella accurate. ACOGs are truly amazing optics which were originally designed to fit into the A2 handle, so its not some jerry-rigged compromise solution. The fit is very tight and shifting or movement is not a concern. I'm sorry I have no pics but you don't really want to see my AR. It keeps getting uglier all the time. I'm embarrased.
