Invent a time machine. Go back to 1985.
Get you ffl, class III sot, and a demo letter from a LE agency, and it's yours..

Seriously, I think there are ~4 transferrable Glock model 18s in ciruclation. By the law of supply and demand, they command a pretty penny. Assuming that you can come up with a sufficient amount of cash to convince someone to part with their Glock 18, you would then need to have the chief law enforcement officer in your county sign off on the transfer and submit paperwork to BATFE, including a $200 tax stamp. There is a sticky in the Free Fire Zone that explains the process.

In my country you need to be a member of a SWAT team, Presidential escort, inteligent service member or commando in the army.
There are no transferable glock 18's out there.. All the ones on the market are all post samples, and there are plenty out there, infact you can order one from glock anytime you want, you just need to have your class 3 sot and a demo letter.

I´m thinking of collecting Glocks. Here it works as any other licens + You write a letter and tell the Police what guns and/or what time in history and why You´d like to do this.
They wouldn´t like to approve a G18 and it´s not a good gun to start with. But if You have the G17, G26 and G34 the logic says the next one is the G18.
The law is clear, there´s no prohibition against full-auto collection. The Police would like You to stay with semi-auto but hey I would like no to pay tax...
/JW
BTW. The closest G18 from my doorstep is only 15 miles away @ a collector.
There is a prohibition of full auto's that have not been registered with the atf, and you could only register them as civilian transferable up until may of 1986... Even if you could get a police to sign off on the gun, the ATF would not approve the transfer as it would be classified as a post dealer sample.. The ONLY way to get a glock 18 is to get your class 2 or 3 sot and get a sample letter from a law enforcement agency.

You could become a Cop and talk your Chief into signing off on one for you....Technically it will belong to the department so if you were fired or quit you wouldnt be able to take it with you unless you stayed in law enforcement and moved to another agency and the Chief there signs also.

There are exactly zero transferable Glock 18s.
As you point out previously, you need a time machine to go back to 1985. Then you need to put Gaston Glock in it and travel back to 1968, where he makes the Glock 18, and imports it into the US before the 1968 GCA takes effect.

Glock does not sell to dealers. They only sell to MIL/LEO agencies. That is why whenever you see one for sale it is like $3000 or whatever instead of $500.
If you are a class 2 or 3 sot, then you are a dealer.. You'll never see one for 3000, as civilians can't own them.. Just class 2 or 3 sot's and le agencys, and yes they do get them for market price..

Does that still mean if you have your FFL and Class 2 or 3 SOT that you can buy one from glock?

If you get one, you would only be able to fire it at the police range. You could not take it home with you.

Not true here in NC...as long as you are a card holding Law enforcement officer you can take it home and use it wherever you wish.
The weapon would be paid for out of your pocket but it would be "owned" by the department.
If you were to get fired or quit that department the you would have to surrender the weapon to the department or if you stayed in law enforcement and left the old department on good terms the weapon could be transferred to the new department.
IF-- you were lucky enough to get the Chief to sign off on getting one...it would not cost you much more than a plain old glock 17.

well right now i'm in indiana and i have a semester left of college and i have been putting in applications but i'm thinking about going to Tennessee because i did a ride a long while i was there and really liked it. i have also did a couple ride alongs here in indiana. but i would think it would be easier to get that converter than a G18 at least you would own the converter most likely.

even if you didn't get a glock18 say you get a full auto m4 you would have to write a little to the chief of police wont you? also lots of paper work for a class III weapon.

obelix: pnhurst is absolutely right. You CANNOT order G18 from Glock, INC. Even if you have your sot2/sot3 and a demo letter. Legally you can, but it is Glock, Inc policy about no G18/G18C sales to dealers. LEO/MIL/GOV only!

Sure he could. There are no laws preventing it, he is bound only by Dept policy. A LEO near me has a G18, and there is one here on GT from Aransas county that has one too.

Even if I could get an 18, I wouldn't. I'd go for a slide-plate conversion of a G17 or some other model instead. I've shot two different G18's and each time the selector switch rubbed a bloody groove into the top of my thumb on my right hand as the slide cycled. I don't think a slide-plate conversion would have that problem but I haven't shot one of those yet.

There's a deputy I know that carries one on duty and takes it home every night. That's just his glock, like any other officer would carry their G22. He's pretty good with it too I guess.

For "most" silencers/machineguns:
Everyone thinks there is a lot of paperwork for Class III weapons, but it is easier than buying a car....There are 3 forms in duplicate. Your dealer completes the detailed one for you after you purchase your item....You will need (2) passport photos to attach to the form 4. You take this to your chief law enforcement officer in your city/county. My chief signed off in under 3 hours, most take longer. You attach your $200 check made payable to ATF to your form 4, with duplicate fingerprint cards and duplicate form stating citizenship. You wait......
and................................................................................................. ..

Glock will only sell direct to Police Departments and govment agencies, not to LE dealers, so to get a factory gun you will need to buy one from a police dept. when they tire of it. PD pays about $475 for one, usually they sell about $2500 on the citizen dealer market.

I wonder how high the crime rate was back in 1968? Those laws must have really cut down on crime.
