Is it possible to register a pistol?

Is it possible under the NFA to register a pistol as an SBR so that a stock may be attached to it at will?

I'm sure more knowledgable folks will chime in, but I believe you would have to register as AOW (any other weapon) as the original firearm is not a rifle.

That said, my understanding is yes you can do this.

Chiming in, a handgun with an added shoulder stock becomes a short rifle, without a 16" or longer barrel.

An AOW handgun can not be shoulder fired, so not nor ever will be an AOW.

A handgun with a vertical front grip secondary to the primary grip becomes an AOW.
