I have the Tru Dot night sights and the rear sights are off left from dead center. Can these be centered by someone local or do I have to send them in? It looks like they are crimped.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Are there set screws? If so, loosen them and gently use a sight pusher, or, protecting the slide from scratches (wrap in leather or sandwich between wood), put the slide in a vise and using a non-marring punch, try tapping the sight over to dead center.

If none of the above works, see a gunsmith.

Thanks, for your help. There are no set screws. I think the sight is crimped in. It's all the way to the right in the indentation that's set aside for the sight. It has a full 1/8 of an inch gap on the left from the left edge. I am guessing that means it's off by a 1/16.
I just don't know if I can tap it left a 1/16 without loosening it up.

Have you shot the pistol yet? Is it "off" your point-of-aim? If so, by how much and at what distance(s)?

I assume this is a Meprolight rear. If so, it is a friction-fit in the slide dovetail. A sight pusher (or the non-marring rod method) can be used to drift the sight in the dovetail. Use of a sight pusher is preferred.

Did you install or have the Sights installed?
I would worry about Point of Aim First.
It may need to be shifted. In that case you may need to by adjustable sights if you want them to appear centered on the slide and have the correct POA.

If the gun is a Glock and I assume it is they make a tool
to adjust the position of the rear sight. The rear sight
is a "Dovetail" interference fit. The "V" form (or dovetail)
is slightly smaller than the sight so it gets press fit in

Glockmeister makes the tool but it costs about $100.00
You can go to a local range and have them adjust it for you
GlockMeister Web Site (http://www.glockmeister.com)

I have one of the tools as I have put night sights on 3 of my Glocks.
You move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to go.

CCWMike,

Have you considered renting your sight tool to other Glock Talk users? There is a guy on www.gunsnet.net who rents out a treading die, the TAT, and the handles to people who want to thread their AK barrels. He has a good system worked out and I rented from him when I did the barrel on my Ak.

If this piques your interest, PM me and I will send you the details on how his system works.
