I have a 6-round mag for my MK9 Elite98 that causes repeated FTF's. How do I fix it? Replace the spring?

The MK9 loves my other 2 mags and has functioned flawlessly with them through 350 rounds, including Rangers and GDs.

It could be the spring, but it could also the feed lips could be bent. How do the lips on the problem mag compare to your other two magazines?

Speed Draw,

Take the follower and spring from a good mag and try it in the bad mag. Then try the parts from the bad mag in the good mag.
By swaping parts, you can narrow it down to the mag case/lips, the follower, and/or the spring.

It could be something as simple as the spring in the bad mag being reversed.

You might consider getting some extra power mag springs from Wolff. They fixed my FTF problems in my MK40 (which just got a new 22.5# recoil set up). Wolff does not have them on the site for some reason, so you have to call them. Installing the spring for the 6-round mag is a b****, but worth the effort...just ask my brother who was actually the one who I suckered into installing them ;) .

There are still some stainless followers out there... Get those replaced with the plastic ones, they are much more reliable.

I like the idea posted about the process of ellimination achieved by parts swaps...

I know that this sounds dumb, but - check the mag to make sure that it does not have "40" engraved on it. My PM9 came from the factory with one "40" magazine and one 9mm. The 9 worked great, but the 40 would fail to feed about 1/3 of the time, never would feed the last round. I am surprised that it worked at all. Of course, Kahr exchanged it very quickly.

Thanks for all the replies! The offending mag is indeed an MK9 mag with plastic follower and the feed lips look normal. I'll swap parts on the mags as suggested to see if I can narrow it down to the problematic part.

I've never removed a mag spring before, so let's hope I don't end up with 2 bad mags. ;)
Thanks again!
