What kind of ammo are you folks shooting in your suppressed Walther P22's? Do I need to go with standard velocity 40grainers, or will high velocity stuff still be subsonic? Is the copper plated stuff supposed to be easier on the can?

IMO CCI subsonic is the best, and I have tried everything that can be bought at Academy, Wal-Mart, and Cabelas.

As long as you have short P22 then CCI MiniMags will be subsonic. Gun will cycle most ammo I have found for it.

I had a chance to shoot my Outback II this past weekend. Just about everything I put through it seemed to work fine and be subsonic. I shot Rem subsonic, Federal 36gr hp valuepack, CCI subsonic, and CCI minimag. Lots of people seem to love the CCI minimag in suppressors. I will have to shoot this stuff over a crono when I get a chance.

On a side note,I put maybe 350 rounds through it, then soaked it in WD-40 to clean it as per the manual. Does this really work? I am a little skeptical that this is really getting the lead and powder residue out.

I like the Augila SSS 60gr round. I shoot that through my P22 and Ruger and it works great! I find I have less FTF or jams with it due to the 22 short casing that is used. The only problem with them is when used in a rifle to get the best preformance out of it you will need a 1:9" barrel. Most 22's are 1:16" twist. Out of my P22 I can hit 4" spinners @ 25yds freehand 7 out of 10 times and 10 out of 10 with the Ruger on average. I am very pleased with it.

I use the Remington Target Standard Velocity. Subsonic from my P22 and ruger 10/22. Easy to find, very consistent and less expensive than the stuff branded 'subsonic'. Very low noise with my GemTech Outback.

Do NOT use the Aguila SSS ammo with a suppressor!! The bullet yaws quite a bit after leaving the muzzle of most .22 pistols. Bullet strikes in a suppressor are common. GemTech specifically will not not honor the warranty if you use this ammo with one of their suppressors.

If using the non-extended barrel P22 then standard vel + suppressor is fine. The std vel won't go supersonic in the 3 or so inches that the P22 barrel has. If subsonic is significantly more then you are wasting money. This applies to the pistol, if you attach the can to the G22 then you need SS ammo.

When I was researching my suppressor purcahse that's what the guys at rimfirecentral.com told me. They also warned me about the Aguila, but that's been covered.

I can hear a difference when I shoot Stingers but that's high velocity and then some. Some of the noise could be perceived due to the stronger recoil though.

Were you able to purchase the glock .22 conversion barrel threaded, or did you have to get that done after?

The threading was done after purchase, as they is made in CA, so no threads. The barrel is too small to support a 1/2-28. so an adapter was made similar to that used on P-22 to allow 1/2-28 suppressor mounting.

Remington golden bullet bulk pack for $9.99/550 runs 940 fps from my suppressed p22 vs 1270 fps from my suppressed Marlin rifle.

Rem lead hp subsonic runs 990 fps from the rifle.

Thanks guys. Got one of those tactical solutions mark II uppers to shoot with my can. Cronod some loads...Remington subsonics were in the 800fps range, CCI minimag aroud 1000, federal 36 gr valupac supersonic at over 1100.

Strangely I had some initial problems with keyholing. I put a rubber washer between the suppressor and TS upper which seemed to help and ran a 30 cal brush through it after soaking which seemed to help as well. I am not sure if the can was just dirty or if the can and the upper just did not mate up quite right. TS upper on MKII lower now appears to be a tackdriver. It also has yet to jam.

Ideally you want the suppressor to mate with the square barrel shoulder (no spacer of any type to cause align issues). Keyhole likely come from bullet glancing off something in its path, be it crud build up, or edge of bore/baffle due to align issue.
